The Barbara necklace

I made this musical note pendant for my mother, Barbara Ravenda. She was battling Cancer, her fight was long and very difficult, and there were so few moments that made her forget her suffering, except when she heard music. Music lifted her spirit, I’ll never forget the one afternoon I put on one of her favourite CDs and we danced around the living room and laughed.
My mom lost her battle on July 1st 2011. She never did see this pendant but I know she would have been so touched to know how deeply she inspired me.
$25 of every Barbara necklace sold will be donated to the ELLICSR Health, Wellness & Cancer Survivorship Centre.

Hey Lady at the Junos

Custom made DWW Ring

I love watching the Junos to see Canadian music come alive, and this year the opening performance by Down with Webster was a great way to start off the night! Not only did I love to see their explosive performance but I got to see a Hey Lady piece on stage with them! Bucky from Down with Webster was sporting his custom made Hey Lady ring (seen above) in sterling silver with a gun metal pattina. This band is amazing, they have so much energy and know how to spread that spark through their music!

Bubbles and Baubles fundraising event

Start the year off right and do something good! Come and join Hey Lady designs at a fundraising event in London, Ontario on February 9th from 5:30- 10pm. We will be setting up a booth selling our wares along side some very talented jewellery artists. Tickets are $35 and a portion of all jewellery sales will be going to help support patient care at the Children’s Hospital at London Health Sciences Centre. Time to give back

Well sometimes you just have to give back a little and this weekend I was fortunate enough to have that opportunity. I donated a Silver and Red Agate necklace with matching earrings to an auction held to benefit Casa Canadiense , a Canada-Nicaragua partnership which supports community development initiatives in Nicaragua, an organization that is entirely run by volunteers. The matching set was sold at the auction, held on Sunday October 24th at the Lithuanian house in Toronto, for close to $200!

It’s back again, Toronto’s Queen West Art Crawl
Saturday September 18th to 19th in Trinity Bellwoods park. Come and visit me in my booth (D14) where I’ll be featuring some original Hey Lady creations. So I just found this great website EthicalMetalsmiths that informs people about responsibly sourced materials and educates about the human and environmental cost of the mining industry. Mining can be a dirty (pardon the pun) and destructive industry and we don’t often think about how our metals are sourced. As a metalsmith it opened my eyes to a few things and I just had to share it with you. Now go check it out and learn a few things about where your metals are coming from.
